Finally, the rain.
With generous assistance from the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmarinas, PWDPhil has partnered with the Angono PDAO, headed by Amormio Vitor for the pilot project of the PWDe Initiative.
The PWEDe Initiative which stands for Persons With Exceptional Determination, is a project aimed at helping PWDs find gainful employment by taking advantage of the Internet to work for various clients and companies in a remote setting. Dubbed as the ultimate telecommute, remote jobs has been in the Philippines since the late 2000s. There have been a few companies who provide matching services between individual contractors and clients and companies seeking to hire Filipino talent who can work remotely from the Philippines. We in PWDPhil want to tap this opportunity for our PWD brothers and sisters who have suffered much discrimination from prospective employers.
Our pilot project is now underway. We are training five select PWDs to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow. While our first batch of trainees are mostly formerly employed and with know-how on how to navigate through the Internet, we are hoping that the future trainees will include some blind and deaf participants. We are hoping that someone in governance will continue this initiative so that the other PWDs will also find gainful employment through the jobs of tomorrow.
